The Cowlitz County Historical Museum is located at one of the busiest intersections in the county. The nondescript building that housed the museum did not pique the interest of passers by. Program needs included a requirement for additional storage space for archives, a classroom that could be used to give presentations to a full class of students as well as additional exhibit space.
The exterior was completely updated and new additions were added to the east and west sides of the building. The east addition contains administrative offices, new restroom facilities and a break room for community volunteers. The west addition contains glass facades on 3 elevations. The intent is that displays will be utilized to attract people into the building.
